Notes
Early Vi 15206 and 16233 discs were released as single sides. Later releases are paired with CS-84578 ("Adoramus te"), which is issued from dub D3RC-410. See take 2 of CSHQ-72075.
Ledgers do not list instrumentation for take 1, which may differ from take 2.
Victor ledgers: “Remade under serial CS-72075.” The initial issues of Vi 15206 (M-508), 15210 (AM-508), and 16233 (DM-508) conclude with a Stokowski arrangement of the opera’s act 2 finale. In 1939, Stokowski and the orchestra re-made part 9, using the ending of “Liebestod” that was previously included on the 1932 master, "Tristan und Isolde: A symphonic synthesis," CSHQ-72075. The newly recorded Part 9 replaced the original master, CS-94629, on later issues of 15206 (M-508) and 16233 (DM-508). The Stokowski.org website speculates that the replacement finale was in response to the public’s desire to include the popular “Liebestod” excerpt in the album. As noted in the Stokowski.org website, Victor assigned the matrix number of the new Part 9 master as CS-72075, rather than CS-94629.
